Cartier Sterling Silver Mediterranean Yachting Tray, mid-20th century, featuring a map of a cruise route starting in Cannes, reaching Santorini, and ending in Venice, with several stops in Corsica, Sicily, Italy, former Yugoslavia, and Greece along the way; "Cruise of Flying Cloud, July 1st to August 9th 1929" flanked by two boats at rim; "Mr. and Mrs. George M. Moffett" engraved above ten signatures of the gift-givers; figural side handles of two dolphins and a seashell with molded rope bordering at opening; lg. 29 1/2 in., approx. 219.2 troy oz.

Note: George Monroe Moffett, 1883-1951, was born in West Virginia and graduated from Princeton University. During his lifetime, Moffett was a business leader, working as chairman of the board for the Corn Products Refining Company, director of the Commercial Solvnets Corporation, and the South Puerto Rico Sugar Company. He had two sons, James A. Moffett and George M., Jr.
