Carved Jacobean blanket chest. Pre 18th century. Carved oak, iron hinges, handles, and escutcheon, carved foliate motifs. Interior lined with linen, with one lidded compartment on right side. Split to wood across lid. Pin missing from right hinge of lid. Loss to wood on front right corner of lid. Scratches, marks, chips, and wear throughout wood of chest. Lock plate is missing. Loss to wood on molding of rightmost square containing carved flower. From the collection of a prominent Connecticut family.
