Provenance: This is just an incredible piece of folk art, so whimsical. And good storage, too, for jewelry, candy, etc. Beautifully carved and proportioned and you just have to love the strings and sock. Lots of details with the sewing work on the top and around the sole. It has three compartments, two of which are hinged, the sock and toe lift up as lids. In the sole is another compartment but the cover is missing but notice the detail in the sole. No detail left out. Nice size, too, at 10" long by 6" tall by 3 1/2" wide. Dates to the late 1800's to early 1900"s.
