Carved and polychromed wooden bargueno chest. Colonial. Mexico. 18th century.
The frontal part is made up of a door which opens to the side and is decorated with profuse carvings of richly polychromed foliage, surrounded by a moulding full of small cartouches. Six drawers are hidden in the interior, these are decorated with polychromed carving and small wrought iron handles. The sides are painted with decoration of landscapes. The chest rests on a a table with turned legs in the shape of spiral Tuscan columns. There are some flaws in the paint. Chest measurements: 51 x 69 x 40,5 cm. Table measurements: 77 x 60 x 46 cm.
