Silk mourning fan with ebonised wood owned by Kitty (nee Catherine Nigh) Latta (1852-1929), wife of collector William J. Latta. Housed in the original box from J.E. Caldwell & Co., Phila. PA.

Dimensions are: closed - 13 1/2 in (34.3 cm) long X 1 1/2 in (3.8 cm) wide; open - 22 1/4 in (56.5 cm) wide. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Fading to silk and scattered areas of mildew growth.

Provenance: From the family collection of William J. Latta, noted collector of Napoleon memorabilia and/or his son-in-law Harry Franck, a well known travel writer, by descent.
