Cased Victorian Silverplate Fish Service

[ translate ]

Cased Victorian Silverplate Fish Service

fourth quarter 19th century, by William Clarke, London, with a dozen fish forks with four prongs, and a dozen fish knives with scimitar-shaped blades, each with a pointed handle threaded with ivy leaves, presented in the original fitted, indigo baize-lined wooden case with lift-out-tray.
forks l. 7-1/4", knives l. 8-3/4", case 2-1/4" x 13-1/4" x 11-3/4"
Condition Report: **In restored condition. The blades/tines have been professionally re-seated at some point, though the join is a little sloppy on two or three, but all are secure and functional as a result. The blades/tines were evidently re-plated at the time. Some bumps and dings on the pitch-filled handles, which are probably sterling, though the marks were probably obscured during the restoration. Each piece marked "W C E P G". The case in good shape, with some scuffs and scrapes on the exterior. The baize is worn but intact, and there are four missing and one loose divider(s) on the lift-out tray.
