Casket - Brass, Wood, "Cuir Bouilli" - First half 17th century
A very beautiful Louis XIII box lined with punched leather with geometric motifs so-called "cuir bouilli". The box has a wooden corpus with the characteristic lid covering on the inside. The box has a brass handle, lock hooks and an openwork lock plate. The original lock is present but there is no key. The box closes well and is in good condition. There are three cracks in the leather of the lid. See the last three photos. In very good condition given the age and the material. Origin France c 1620 / 1640.
