Vintage hand painted porcelain cat coin bank, Takahashi San Francisco, 1980s, the original paper label is present.

The cat is 4.1/4" tall; c. 3" x 2.1/2"; the original rubber stopper is present; no chips, no cracks, no repairs, very good / fine condition.

The Takahashi San Francisco Company was founded by American Japanese Takahashi family after they returned to California from the concentration camp in Topaz, Utah after the World War II. The Takahashi Trading Company imported specially designed home goods from Japan for their Takahashi retail stores in the Bay Area and NYC. Their wholesale business expanded as they sold to stores and museum shops around the country. Over fifty of their items won the coveted Good Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
