Caucasian Armenian Rug 83502

Soumak is a kind of embroidery weaving technique which is unique to Armenian weaving culture though we can see it used in Azerbaijan as well. Armenians weave their Soumak on with thicker additional weft which wraps diagonally around wefts and through warps. This technique is very much more elaborated than all other kilim weaving.
