Caucasian battle ax with gold inlay and silver handle, 18th century. Very rarely encountered from this region, the head forged of Persian wootz steel, the pattern visible on one face, the lower edge with scrolled motif. With worn inlaid gold borders and flat peen. The wooden haft with velvet-covered central section, the large mounts of silver finely nielloed with flowering vine motifs overall. Mid-18th century.
