Singapore signed and dated 'Cecil Wilson 1931' (lower right)oil on canvas69.5 x 90cmProvenance:Landwade Hall, Exning, SuffolkFootnote: Singapore (1927 – after 1946) was bred by Sir Alec Black at the Compton Stud in Suffolk. As a yearling, he was bought at auction by Lord Glanely for 12,500 guineas. He was the progeny of the 1918 Triple Crown winner Gainsborough (1915-1945) and went on to win two major races, the St Leger Stakes in 1930, and the Doncaster Cup in 1931.Condition report: Framed 84.5 x 105cmOil on canvas which has been lined. The paint layer is in a stable condition but has an unusual surface texture, possibly caused during the lining process. The varnish layer is thinly applied, clear and even. There are several brown splashes in the upper half of the painting.
