Beautiful bronze sculpture that radiates dynamics and movement. A dancing man with castanettes. The French sculptor Calmels worked mainly in Portugal, Lisbon in particular. His most famous work is the large marble group standing on the Arco da Rua Augusta. Anyone who has ever been to Lisbon has seen this. Calmels was a student of, among others, the famous artist James Pradier (1790-1852) , the statue therefore bears the inscription "Élève de Pradier".
