Note: This drawing is a classic example of the intimate and highly personal images for which Celia Paul is famous. Her powerful portraits have been compared to those by Gwen John, and have been exhibited alongside artists including Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud (the latter of whom Paul was in a relationship with for many years) in an exhibition at the Tate Britain. Paul's work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and of the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
