LOT 82526401  |  Catalogue: Chinese Art

Censers / Brush pots - Porcelain - Reticulated Bamboo and Flowers - China - Kangxi (1662-1722)

[ translate ]

A rare set of Kiln-matching Kangxi period reticulated censers/brush pots. The reticulated walls are modeled as bamboo leaves with three applied flowers in the center. The censer rests on three short ruyi shaped feet.
\r
This type of vessel is rather rare, but even rarer to find a matching kiln pair, which could be fired in the kiln together as they fit perfectly in each other. At the unglazed inside of the censer, there still is a tripod impression/mark left from the feet of smaller censer during firing.
\r
Provenance: Larger one: Private Dutch collection. Small one: Thrift shop in the North of The Netherlands.
