Jan Cossiers (Circle of Jan Cossiers) Oil on wood representing Christ Framed size: 35 x 32 cm Painting size: 22,5 x 24. 5 cm Jan Cossiers, who was born on 15 July 1600 in Antwerp where he died on 4 July 1671, was a Flemish Baroque painter. Simplified version of the well-known theme of the Ecce homo, tending towards an image of interiorised devotion - in the tradition of Titian. Trained by his father Antoine Cossiers, then in the workshop of Cornelis de Vos, he stayed in Aix-en-Provence, then in Rome around 1624. He was admitted to the St. Luke's Guild in Antwerp in 1628, of which he was dean in 1640-1641. In 1635 he collaborated with Pierre Paul Rubens for the decoration work carried out on the occasion of the Joyous Entry of Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand.
