Cerussite Kombat Mine, Kombat, Grootfontein, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia "A shiny sharp transparent twinned crystal about 1.5 inches. Bought from a miner in at Kombat." - Rock H. Currier Mother Nature did it to us again. We humans thought we were so clever thinking up lead crystal for chandeliers and brandy decanters and the like. Well, Nature got there ahead of us. While our nearest relatives were eating bugs and hanging upside-down from tree limbs, trickling groundwater at an obscure site in Africa dissolved some lead minerals here and then re-deposited that same lead there with a little help from the local limestone. The result, as the miners who unearthed them at the Kombat Mine discovered, were lustrous, sparkling 'arrowheads' displaying all of the prismatic colors of lead crystal, flashing in the bright African sun that lit them in the miner's calloused hand. This find was another one-off deal with no encore performances to date. Overall Measurements: 1.4 x 1.8 x 0.8 inches (3.5 x 4.5 x 2.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Bought directly from a miner in Kombat [RHC #4476, acquired 1980] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
