Cesar Baldaccini (1921-1998) - Large Cesar Baldaccini "Compression" Sculpture
The consignor has advised that he purchased this and another "Compression" sculpture (a signed work, sold in our 6.2.2018 auction, lot 223) from a gallery show in the south of France or Paris, sometime between 1981-83. He said that at the time, Baldaccini was not as well known, but he purchased the sculptures because he liked the apocalyptic look of the works.
