Chalcedony intaglio. Draped and conjoined busts of Jupiter Serapis and Isis. This work has been inspired by Ptolemaic models (see silver tetradrachma of Ptolemy IV Philopator, Zecca di Alessandria, 217/215 B.C., conjoined busts of Serapis and Isis on the obverse, an eagle with inscriptions on the reverse). Intaglio created with competence, (conjoined double portrait), with precise and deep engraving lines, partly following the Hellenistic art stylistic features, with a considerable spontaneity. Post-classical work (presumably Asia Minor). For confrontation: Jeffrey Spier, Ancient gems and finger rings, Catalogue of the Collections The J. Paul Getty Museum, p.126 n. 336.
