Charles Loupot 1892–1962 St. Raphaël (vintage poster)
Caption Brief: This is Loupot’s first St. Raphaël bitters poster to feature a silhouette of the Eiffel Tower and two waiters, who would become the brand’s enduring trademark. Already present are the sharply contrasting figures, distinctive red-and-white palette, and playful imbalance of scale that would define the campaign for decades. In later versions, Loupot would progressively simplify and refine the pair, stripping away incidental detail in pursuit of an increasingly pure graphic image; here, however, the composition retains a greater sense of character and pictorial charm.
