LITERATURE
Charles Pachter, interviewed by Heffel, May 2022

Rose, one of Charles Pachter’s floral “portraits,” demonstrates his command of volumetric shape and colour. While his works are often characterized by bold blue and red features, Rose demonstrates his artistic versatility and his command of a softer palette. Here, the warm yellow form is set against a uniform sky blue. Soft contours and creases of orange and pink give the petals a spatial quality of three-dimensionality. Pachter’s floral series began during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown period, a time in which he had the opportunity to develop his interest in floral subjects with their volumetric shapes and contained beauty.
