Charles Rennie Mackintosh - Cassina - Armchair, Chair - Trono 312 Willow

[ translate ]

The "312 Willow" design chair is a tribute to the artistic genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Scottish architect, designer and painter who was part of the Glasgow Movement as well as being a high profile representative of the Art Nouveau style in Britain. This chair is a replica of the model that the Scottish architect donated in 1904 to the Willow Tea Rooms in Glasgow, his hometown. The tall semicircular backrest acted as a divider between the antechamber and the back hall. The enveloping backrest perfectly represents the geometrical and floral design typical of Mackintosh. The workmanship displayed in this seat combines Cassina's high cabinetry and advanced technology, as one can instantly determine from the craftsman's precision in assembling the components in order to create a light and stylish structure. Located under the seat is a storage compartment that you can see in the photos; the armchair is made of black lacquered ash wood; from a private collection, purchased in the early 1990s from Cassina's Official Store in Milan, Italy. As you can see from the photos, it is in very good condition, the cushion is still with the original upholstery (showing only some signs of wear) ; indeed, this object has never been used as armchair, but rather as a display item and decorative furnishing item. The photos show the object in full detail, and are an integral part of the description. Dimensions: - Height 119 cm - Width 94 cm - Depth 41 cm - Seat height 36/38 cm Weight: approx. 25-30 kg Tracked shipping using a courier selected according to availability during the international pandemic crisis; carefully packaged, with shipping costs calculated on a very large parcel.
