Miniature model of the Eames Lounge Chair (Model no. 670) and Hocker (Model no. 671) that were originally issued in 1956. In new state complete with original documentation and packaging. Like many of Eameses’ furniture designs, the club chair No. 670 was the result of Charles Eames’s cooperation with Eero Saarinen in 1940. When both participated in the New York Mo. Ma’s ‘’Organic Design in Home Furnishings’’ competition. The construction of the Chair is more complex than any other chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames, especially the miniature version is very complex to (manually) assemble. Moreover, it is the most comfortable and most expensive piece of furniture the couple created. One special feature of the construction is the connection of the seat to the back. The armrests provide the only connection of the back with the shell and feature washers made of Neoprene. The division between the individual functions through the segmentation of the structure and the use of different materials give the chair a technical appearance. The beloved status symbol turned into one of the great design classics. This miniature is part of the miniature collection issued by the Vitra Design Museum. The Vitra Design Museum issued a selection of its comprehensive collection as furniture classics in miniature for collectors and those interested in design. This ever-expanding collection includes key objects of international design history from 1820 to the present day. Each miniature corresponds to the original in construction, material and color. In a lengthy development processes, techniques have been adjusted to the demands of miniature production. Due to this originality, the miniatures are not only collectors items for furniture lovers but also ideal illustrative material for universities and design schools. Exactly one sixth of the size of the historical originals objects.
