World War I Period, Patriot Photograph. t includes partial label on its blank reverse printed from "Charlotte Fairchild's Studio, 5 East 47th Street, New York." This popular Photograph was reproduced in numerous newspapers and magazines across the country as part of the national effort to promote the sale of Liberty (War) Bonds. The New York Times featured a series of her photos on October 20, 1918 in support of a patriotic World War I campaign. This image was part of that series of patriotic images which established Charlotte Elizabeth (Houston) Fairchild (1876-1927) as a prominent photographer. Seen here posing as the Statue of Liberty was Miss Frances Fairchild (1899-1943), a recent debutante, and not coincidentally the photographer's beautiful daughter!
