The 511 Ventaglio Dinner Table was designed by Charlotte Perriand for the manufacturer Cassina. Originally founded in 1928, this Italian firm came to prominence in the early 1950s with its fresh, innovative pieces made with cutting-edge industrial techniques. Originally dating from 1972, the 511 Ventaglio Dinner Table from Cassina calls to mind 1920's Art Deco with its distinctively angular shape. Measuring 73cm in height, 157cm in width and 235cm in length, it consists of a tabletop made of thirteen oak planks resting on three elegantly undulating pedestal legs. There's a Far Eastern inspiration to the irregular shape of the tabletop, which recalls Japanese fans and origami, while the use of planks has a handcrafted feel, which is again very characteristic of the designer. Available in stained black oak, the 511 Ventaglio Dinner Table invites sitters to be flexible and inventive in the way they group themselves around its multitude of nooks and angles.
