LC3 represented a break from the conventional design of traditional sofas, thanks to the external (rather than internal) frame, which is a way to show the graceful and painstaking workmanship employed in the creation of the frame. The separation between the frame cage and the upholstery elements is an accomplished expression of the logic of rationalism. LC3 is a timeless model, which has made design history. Designed in 1928, it is the archetypal sofa in the new and modern conception of furniture as "domestic tools". The lot up for auction was purchased in 2010 by a family in Milan for a residential flat which was then barely used. Because of this, it is in truly excellent condition. Structure and leather upholstery with very minor signs of wear. The padding is still perfectly solid.
