Bin-soiled and slightly damaged labels. Levels: mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting note: Top-shoulder level. Chateau bottled. A fairly neutral backward nose with mineral tones. A sweet soft texture on the first taste, even verging on unctuous, and lingering on with mature tannins to finish. Fully evolved with a tertiary aroma and showing the class of the vineyard. A tight classic Calon bite on the aftertaste, which is so different from the modern day more flashy style that the chateau has set in. After time in the glass, the mid-palette shows sweet rich fruit before the mineral notes on the after taste take over. This will be fantastic to pair with game. This is a classic old style Calon in the reserved way of the sixties enhanced with the 1966 tannins. Sweet on the finish and very nice. August 2019. EV.
