Château Jousson 1875 - Grande Fine Champagne Magnum - b. 1960s - 1.4 litres

[ translate ]

Vintage 1875 cognac from Grande Fine Champagne vineyards, the heart of the cognac production offering the most complex flavours. It is important not to mistake the designation "Fine Champagne" cognac and "Grande Fine Champagne" cognac. The "fine champagne" designation is used for a blend of petite and grande champagne, but the "Grande Fine Champagne" designation can only be used for 100% Grande Champagne cognac. Offered here is a very nice and exclusive MAGNUM of this vintage cognac. Selected by Château Jousson, which is a grower and distiller based in Angeac-Champagne - the center of Grande champagne. They mostly supplied Rémy Martin for the famous "Louis XIII" product, but also kept apart some of their better stock for bottlings under their own label like this one. The bottle is in very good condition, fair level, excellent wax sealing, label very good condition, the cognac was probably bottled in the second half of 20th century (1960-1970) according to bottle type and bottle design (probably manufactured, "ball" in the bottom, clear green glass) The content is quite dark, typical of brandies having matured for many years in oak barrels. But for sure it has not stayed 80 or 90 years in the barrels, the alcohol content would have decreased below "legal" 40%, and could not be sold as "cognac" any longer. So probably transferred into large glass balls of 30 or 40 liters, called "dame jeannes", in the first half of 20th century. But the content is nearly 150 years old. . . a really time capsule offered for you to enjoy. Higth = 37 cm / weight = 2,13 kg
