Chatelaine for watch - Silver plated - Early 19th century

Chatelaine waist belt made of silver-plated metal. Very elaborate, with scenes depicting putti in different poses and a woman with naked breast close to a putto, probably Cupid, giving her an arrow. It consists of four elements, two joined with hinges and two with metal rings. The rings to hang the watch and other accessories have a double connection that allows total freedom of movement. These chatelaines were used in the 18th century and up to the Victorian era, as pockets were uncommon in clothes at the time and women's handbags were considered not very elegant.
