Chevrolet - Corvette Pacecar Edition - 1978

[ translate ]

In 1978, the Corvette C3 was selected as official pace car for the Indianapolis 500, after which the exact same version of the car was made available for retail sale. These cars always had a black and silver colour scheme and featured matching silver-grey upholstery. Optional features included air conditioning and a heavier L82 engine. Both of these are installed in the car being sold in this auction. This car was sold to its current owner in 1979 (before which it was on display in the dealer's showroom) and it has never changed hands since. It is an original Californian "blueplate". How special is that? With an odometer reading of only 49,000 (approximately 78,858 km) it is definitely a car with a low a mileage. This is a very complete car that comes with virtually all available additional features, including removable targa tops made of mirror glass, silver-grey leather upholstery, air conditioning, power windows, automatic transmission, the optional L82 engine, etc. The car has not been used much the past few years, so some work is needed to get it back in top shape. Two mufflers have just been replaced. The tyres are excellent. The engine starts promptly and runs very nicely. The car drives excellently. The upholstery of the chairs is very extraordinary and neat. The interior is tidy, but there are some details that can still be improved. The bottom of the car is in very pristine condition. It is a characteristic Californian survivor without any rust. The car looks beautiful all around at first glance, but there are some signs of wear/age of course. This is a very extraordinary Corvette that can be turned into a top specimen without much effort. The car comes with its original title (still a pink slip!) from 1979 (that's how long the first owner has been in possession of the car!) and an import document confirming that all import duties for the EU have been paid. We try to describe the cars as honestly and correctly as possible, but since they are used vehicles there could always be something that needs attention or shows signs of wear. This is inherent in used items. It is recommended to come and view the vehicle prior to placing a bid in order to prevent disappointment. Please contact Catawiki to schedule an appointment. This extraordinary Corvette pace car can be viewed and/or picked up in Herkenbosch, the Netherlands.
