Childe Hassam Cos Cob Etching

Depicts small sailing vessels at dock in a harbor in Cos Cob, Connecticut. Hassam studied art at the Lowell Institute and the Boston Art Club under Ignaz Gaugengigl, a German born painter known for his genre and aristocratic paintings. In 1883, Hassam exhibited at the Williams & Everett Gallery in Boston before travelling with is wife to France. While in France, Hassam studied at the Academie Julian under Louis Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre but ultimately rejected the academy's teachings. Hassam then became a founder of the Ten American Painters group from 1898-1918 and settled in New York.

Size: Impression area 7" x 4 3/4".Frame 15 3/4" x 13 3/4"
Signature: Signed with monogram in pencil lower right under image, signed, titled, and dated "Cos Cob 1915" with monogram in image, dedicated "To Mrs. Kihlman From (Childe Hassam)" in pencil lower left under image.
Condition: Light toning, frame with light wear, otherwise good condition.
