Children of Slaves CDV

Carte-de-Visite (CDV) of three enslaved children, with imprint on the mount reading "Rebecca, Charley, and Rosa." Reverso states "The nett proceeds from the sale of these Photographs will be devoted to the education of Colored People in the department of the Gulf, now under the command of Major General Banks." Charles Paxson of New York backmark.

These photos were sold to benefit the Abolitionist cause of educating emancipated former slaves in the south. Excellent condition.
