Children's prayer book to mark the 100th anniversary of the Jewish community in Cape Town (South Africa) - 1941

The beginning of Wisdom Young people prayer book - Centenary edition, published by The Cape Town Hebrew Congregation, Cape town (South Africa) 1941. Rare.

Prayer book for children with an important introduction by Rabbi Israel Abrahams in which he writes among other things about the important event of marking one hundred years to the Jewish community in Cape Town: "My dear children, have you ever spoken to a king? Probably not. However, you have a wonderful opportunity to do so whenever you wish. Indeed, not only to a king but to the King of kings. I mean G-d... This issue of this prayer book helps immortalize a noteworthy event in the history of our Jewish community, namely, one hundred years to the Hebrew congregation in Cape Town. One hundred years ago, it was the sole Jewish community in all of South Africa. As we look back over the past century and see how the community has grown, we must also think of the future. What will happen in the coming years? The answer, dear children, depends to a great extent on you. Much will depend on your love for the King of Kings, on your obedience to His teaching, on your loyalty to the House of God...”.

Extremely rare. Not listed in the National Library and not listed in the world cat library catalog.

The siddur includes part of the morning blessings, Shema Yisrael, Bedtime Kriat Sh'ma for children, and the Ten Commandments. Hebrew and English page by page. Very good condition.
