Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1810 So-FJ MS63 NGC, Santiago mint, KM75, Elizondo-66, Cal-1403, Cay-15825. Military Bust type. A vastly superior selection of this two-year only type, fleeting in better states of preservation and previously unseen in this certified choice condition for the date. The 1810 and 1811 "military" types differ from the similar issues of 1808 and 1809, from the addition of a laureate wreath to crown Ferdinand's head. Regardless of this difference, all four dates are quite challenging to locate in better uncirculated states, and this peak-quality selection outshines what even any seasoned collector would consider fine quality for the type. The strike is formidable, leaving exceptional clarity in Ferdinand's hair strands and essentially full outlining to all major features, with only a trace of weakness within the small central details of the reverse shield. A hint of silver patina overlines fields, these displaying fluid brilliance, glassy to the obverse and highly watery to the reverse, washing over the fields to embrace the designs in a sensational visual display. In all regards, a choice example for the discerning collector. Ex. Áureo & Calicó Auction 248 (November 2012, Lot 138)
