marble fireplace (Lumachella d'Egypt) . Marble used in Roman times from Tunisia.
this fireplace was made with pieces of recycled marble, in fact they are of variable thickness and on the back of the shoulders you can see another workmanship and above all on the right one (as can be seen from the last photos) pieces of the same material are inserted , certainly due to some shortcomings. The authenticity of this fireplace is given by the fact that the added pieces were glued with Greek pitch (last photo) and by the rarity of this marble.
