China: , Yunnan. Republic Tael ND (1943-1944) MS62 PCGS,...
Yunnan. Republic Tael ND (1943-1944) MS62 PCGS, KM-X2 (French Indo-China), Kann-940, L&M-433, Lec-324. Struck for use in French Indo-China. A minimally available type in truly appreciable Mint State condition, and one which witnessed a steep drop-off in the certified population above this level. Produced for use in the French-Chinese opium trade, this particular example preserves effortless cartwheel effects in spite of a smattering of grade-limiting marks, just the lightest hints of caramel tone hugging the contours of the Art Deco-style character Fu ("wealth") that dominates the obverse.
