Precolumbian - Western Mexico (Chinesco Style) – Standing female figure with TL test. – 29,5 cm.
150 BC-250 AD.

Attached report of analysis by thermoluminescence carried out by the Ralf Kotalla (1998) .

Chinesco style is associated to the Western Mexico shaft tomb tradition and was named after the Chinese-like appearance of the figurines found in the excavations. This style is notable for smooth burnished surfaces and painted ornaments. Grave goods within these tombs include hollow ceramic figures, such as this one.

This figure represents a standing woman, decorated with red, beige, and black engobe. She depicts pronounced hips, a nose ring and slit-like eyes.

Provenance: Purchased by the current owner to a German gallery. Previously owned by a German private collector (1990) . Attached export certificate from Germany and TL test (1998) .
