Chinese 18 C Clark Armorial Porcelain Platter
Large Chinese 18 Century Famille Rose Armorial octagonal Porcelain Platter with the Arms of Clarke of Sandford, Circa 1760, the flat base unglazed and burned brown-red in the kiln. The reverse with a painted Museum or Estate Inventory #25-1935-2d" The platter broken and restuck with small glaze losses. Height 13 1/4 inches (33 cm.) X width 16 1/2 inches (42 cm.). NOTE: See Chinese Export Porcelain, David Sanctuary Howard, Page 503, plate 22. The image of the shield hung on a tree near a sandy ford may depict a recognizable reach of the River Thames. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a small milk jug from the McCann collection (No. 51 86.368). PROVENANCE: The Property of a longtime Adirondack Chinese Art Collector.
