Chinese 19th C Square Enamel Vase Qianlong Mark
A very well painted enameled heavy metal vase or brush pot in the Qianlong style with blue flowers and birds.
A heavy brass metal body has been covered in enamels in a blue and white palette. The interior has been covered in an apple green enamel. The mouth and foot show the brass metal. The design shows panels of birds and flowers with a scrolling peony pattern surrounding the panels, and the painting is very elaborate and fine. The flower petals are well shaded and the birds have very fine rendering of feathers and facial features.
The base is coated in a white enamel. There is a thinly drawn Qianlong reign mark painted in blue enamel in the center of the base.
MEASUREMENTS
8 5/8” (21.9 cm) tall x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm) x 3 ¾” (9.5 cm). Weighs 1 lb 8.3 oz (690 g)
CONDITION
There is wear to the enamels commensurate with age and use. There are no dents, cracks, or breaks in the metal. The enamels have small wear with nothing large or highly visible. There are small smudges, speckles, and rubbed areas. For the age, the vase looks very good.
A great vase with a delicacy and beauty about it. The painting is so very fine.
