Chinese patinated bronze incense burner, or censer, modeled as a qilin or related dragon-like mythical creature with a scaled body, raised legs, scrolling cloud-form details, and an elaborate openwork tail. Surmounted by a seated sage or immortal forming a removable fitted cover for access to the censer interior, with the creatures open mouth serving as a vent for incense smoke.
