From Shanxi province, this pair of collapsible chairs comes with a black lacquer frame, red lacquer backsplat and a base with a rectangular footrest. These types of chairs are known as hunting or camping chairs, and were used by the upper-class in informal and formal settings while outdoors. It is often a symbol of status for an individual to be seen seated in the open air.
