Chinese Bronze Tripod Ding, Warring States Period

A Chinese round bronze ding with a lid dating from the Warring States period. The lid features three beasts, and the body has three beast head legs. It has a pair of vertical handles.

Dimensions are: 6 1/2 inches tall X 6 3/4 inches wide, 16.5 cm X 17.1 cm. Weight: 1750 grams. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Use and age wear.

Provenance: From a private New York City collection. A similar example is housed in the collection of the Hunan Provincial Museum as well as in the Beijing Capital Museum. Similar examples have been sold at Christie's New York on March 21, 2013, as lot 1130 and at Christie's New York on June 21, 2011, as lot 421.
