Chinese Brown-Glazed Guanyin Figure, Qing Style
A Chinese brown-glazed figure depicting Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, modeled standing in an elegant pose with hands held before the body, flowing robes, and an elaborate upswept coiffure. Finished throughout in a rich, lustrous brown glaze that accentuates the finely modeled facial features and deeply sculpted folds of the drapery. The figure exhibits stylistic characteristics associated with late Qing and early 20th-century Chinese devotional sculpture.
