西周 玉馬A Chinese brown jade horse toggle dating from the Western Zhou dynasty. There is a hole drilled through the middle.
Dimensions are: 1 3/8 inches tall X 1 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Age appropriate wear.
Provenance: From Mrs. Kwan in Northern California, by descent from her parents, who collected in Hong Kong over 40 years ago. Similar jade carvings of animals, dating from the Western Zhou, are illustrated in _Zhong Guo Yu Qi Quan Ji_, Vol. 2, Hebei: Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House, 1993, pl. 165 (fig. 1).
