A Chinese carved agate seal with a dragon finial dating from the Yuan dynasty.
Dimensions are: 2 inches tall X 2 inches wide, 5.1 cm X 5.1 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There is chipping and natural variation to the stone.
Provenance: From a private Washington, D.C. collection. Purchased in London in the 1980s. Similar seals made of jade can be found in the National Museum of China as well as the Palace Museum in Beijing . A similar example carved in jade was sold at Christie's London on May 12, 2011, as lot 1217.
