Chinese Carved Bamboo Wood Cricket Cage
One 18th c. Chinese finely carved bamboo hanging cricket cage with calligraphy. Possibly also used as a portable ink stone, as evidenced by the form and ink residue. The stone/bamboo is carved to resemble lily pads and lotus. There are two small holes in the back of the pieces to enable it to be hung from a belt or other traveling kit. The back is carved with a landscape and calligraphy.
