Chinese Carved Hardwood Table with 18th Century Zitan
A Chinese carved hardwood table with a Zitan wood tabletop dating from the 18th century. The table skirt features carvings of Chilong and lingzhi.
Dimensions are: 27 inches tall X 32 inches wide X 15 1/2 inches deep, 68.6 cm X 81.3 cm X 39.4 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are multiple areas of repair throughout and possible wear to the surface.
Provenance: From a private New York City collection. Purchased from Christie's New York on April 2, 2013, as Lot 443. A similar example dating from the Qing dynasty is housed at the Palace Museum in Beijing. Similar examples have been sold at Sotheby's New York on September 15, 2010, as lot 352 and at Christie's Hong Kong on May 29, 2006, as lot 1523.
