Chinese Celadon Jade Gui Bi, Ming Dynasty
A Chinese celadon jade Gui Bi dating from the Ming dynasty. The obverse has a Bi disc carved with taotie masks, while the reverse has a Gui scepter carved with a constellation and a wave and rock motif.
Dimensions are: 6 1/4 inches tall X 3 3/4inches wide, 15.9 cm X 9.5 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: It is in overall good condition with natural variation to the stone.
Provenance: From Mr. Zaun's collection in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Zaun lived in Taiwan with his wife from 1967-68 where his interest in Chinese history and artifacts blossomed. Lots 100-105 from our Nov 14, 2020 auction were from Mr. Zaun's collection.
