A 19th Century Chinese Edo Period Glazed Ceramic Figure of a Shishi. Kyoto ware figure of a seated Shishi, or Foo Dog, with white crackle glaze overall is depicted with gilt eyes and mouth agape, revealing white teeth and red gums and tongue. Unmarked. Some firing cracks evident at the underside, minor roughness to the front lower teeth and tongue. 14" high. ESTIMATE $800-1,200 Purchased from Christie's auction in October of 1991.
