Chinese Coral Carving of a Woman, 19th Century
A Chinese carved coral statue of a woman with peaches and flowers dating from the 19th century with a wooden stand and a wooden display box.
Dimensions are: 7 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches wide, 17.8 cm X 10.8 cm, while the box measures 12 1/2 inches tall X 6 1/2 inches wide X 4 inches deep, 31.8 cm X 16.5 cm X 10.2 cm. Weight: 500 grams. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are significant areas of repair and overpainting, as well as breakage and chipping, to the coral statue. The interior lining of the display box is deteriorating.
Provenance: From a private Long Island, New York collection. The stand comes with a sticker from Skinner Auctions. The box comes with a sticker from Doyle Auctions' March 19, 2012 auction (lot 675).
