Title: Chinese Early 20th C Polychrome Square Vase
Size: 11 ¼Â” (28.6 cm) tall x 3 ¼Â” (8.3 cm) wide x 3 ¼Â” (8.3 cm) deep.

A heavy square porcelain vase Chinese polychrome vase with colorful, well painted and intricate panels of mothers and sons. The designs are painted with pink, iron red, black, green, pale yellow, purple, pale blue enamels, with accents of gilding in the hair. The rim has a lined border and the base has a lappet border. The vase is slab constructed with tapering sides with a flat unglazed squared foot. The base is glazed with the same thick orange peel white base glaze as on the body. The vase rests flat on its base. A iron red stamped mark in on the base reads CHINA. MEASUREMENTS 11 ¼Â” (28.6 cm) tall x 3 ¼Â” (8.3 cm) wide x 3 ¼Â” (8.3 cm) deep. Weighs 2 lb 4.6 oz (1040 g) CONDITION There is a glaze chip underneath the mouth rim. The vase was made into a lamp in the 1920Â’s and so has a drilled hole. The vase has no other cracks, chips, or breaks. There are a few kiln flaws, in the form of black spots. There is wear to the gilding along the edge of the shoulder. The glazes are bright and clear. A nice sized Chinese vase with paintings reminiscent of the Kangxi period. It is decorative and will a make a nice addition to a collection or the décor.
